UCR Credit/Debit Card Alert
Summary of Incident
Several people on campus have reported fraudulent charges on their credit or debit card. UC Police notified Housing, Dining & Residential Services that the victims believe that the fraud happened after they used their cards at a UCR Dining Services location. The University immediately began investigating the matter and has determined that cash registers within dining services had been compromised. An unknown person (s) had accessed credit/debit card information before it was encrypted. All payment systems have been analyzed and measures taken to secure these systems from further penetration. Still, we regret to say, that many people on this campus who have used credit/debit cards to pay for food and drink should check statements carefully for evidence of fraud.
